The year 2020 is pushing us to build resilience and find ways of restarting, even in the context of a pandemic. Milan, the capital of fashion and design, has been hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak. Designers, artists and architects, however, are showing a great resilience.
Since September 28th, architecture and design studios, design galleries, artisan laboratories, design brands and creative agencies are taking part in the Milano Design City. The 2-weeks event, promoted by the City of Milan, is dedicated to the culture of design and innovation, with particular attention to the re-design of urban spaces, sustainability and circular economy.
Tuesday we attended to RO GUILTLESS PLASTIC 2020, two combined exhibitions “We Are Nature” and “RO Plastic Prize 2020” curated by the renowned Milanese gallerist Rossana Orlandi.
We Are Nature aims to promote an in-depth dialogue between design, technology and art with actors responsible for safeguarding nature, for an ethical and aesthetic coexistence between man and the planet.
Ro Plastic Prize 2020, the international prize competition conceived by Orlandi and dedicated to the reuse and recycling of plastic – exhibits its second edition finalists and winners.
We had the pleasure to meet Rossana Orlandi, and she was a real host explaining to us some of the exhibition highlights and calling our attention to the importance of responsibility and how she prefers to use this word instead of sustainability.

To Orlandi, sustainability became a buzzword, so she prefers responsibility as it includes everybody. We are all responsible and must understand the importance of recycling and reusing in our daily lives.
The exhibitions reinforce her vision with works coming from all over the word: art pieces, design pieces from furniture to lighting, textile and dyes, craftwork and more all made with waste coming from various industries.
If you are in Milan don’t miss the Ro Plastic Prize 2020 at Museo Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, the exhibition will be on until October 4th. And if you are not in Milan, take a look at our Instagram highlights @somastudimilano and stay tuned!
